The Mishewaka Migration

The Mishewaka Migration was in late August. The occasion : two Future Presidents shows. Friday night, they opened for Merl Saunders and, on Saturday are part of a 14 band super jam.

When we got there, the weather was the typical sketchy, and half the sky was clear while the other half was cloudy and spitting sprinkles on us. It didn't phase us, though, because we had the penthouse camping spot - up the hill accross from the amphitheatre, where there was a garage to keep us covered. As it got dark, out came the CRAZY lightning all around us. Close, bright, long lasting streaks of electricity to kick off the evening with juice, complete with thunder that shakes the soul.

By the time the show was over, the sky was completely clear, and we were treated to the most magnificent meteor shower we had seen in a very long time. Indescribable, really. It fed the partying, as did the magical and dangerous keg of Punjabi ale we had towed along for the weekend. Buuuuzzzzzzyyyyyyy!

The next day - fishing and bathing in the Poudre River under warm, sunny, Colorado skies, followed by more incredible music and fun. We did spend a bit of that day taking revenge on some fellow fliers, a swarm of demonic bees who got in at least 8 good stings before we got the killing can. A truly memorable weekend....
