Denver Detour

The Scene : We started this night trying to meet at the Congress Lounge, but it was as closed as closed gets at 8:30 pm. Of course, we had to turn in the direction of the Denver Detour, right around the corner. The Detour was definitely another something very different for us, as you will see. We don't know if it's like this all the time or this was just a Thursday thing, but it was a definite thing. That's why we do it, though, for the twist we find, the uniqueness in each one. After the twist that was the Detour, we headed to the Funky Buddha, which was only a couple weeks old, and definitely more like what we are used to...

The Buzz From The Flies

It all started out with a 20 minute driving tour of Colfax. Where the hell is the Congress Lounge? Turns out it's closed. So the group moved to the second best thing - Denver Detour, a fine drinking establishment catering to fem and butch dykes, unknowing yuppies and curious switch hitter wannabes. A laughable moment was walking up to the entrance, (completely ignorant to the fact that there is an ENORMOUS SIGN that says "DETOUR" with a very large arrow pointing to the door) and asking women where the bar is located. The sad thing is the drinking hadn't even started yet. The key word here is yet! Rock on FLY brothers and sisters!! - SlyFly

And what a detour it is. Like enjoying a frosty malt beverage after the Softball World Championships. Finally a bar with a 8/1 women/men ratio...Stiff drinks, buzz cuts, (Anika doing tongue Tricks) and good tunes make the detour a worthy hang spot for the barflies...or our Australian affiliate...The "Bush Flies"... - MagnumPFly

The ladies were truly welcoming - the bartender winked at me and gave me mints with the check. Unfortunately I left my baseball cap at home and my indigo girls commemorative tee-shirt in the trunk. It's cool though. A good place to start the night. - PrivateFly

Detour : Enter in rear! (How appropriate) It's safe to say "Artificial Objects" will be the only thing with the juice. - Enough Teasing. Being the only person who wears the Hawaii Shirt every Thurs., I got picked on a lot. - Tonight I decided on my Club Name; "Tiki Fly" (Hawaiian Ya know). I like this bar. Love the ratio!. What can I say that hasn't already been said? I guess I didn't read it, so I can say anything and not know the diff. Butchest of the butch - not a bad thing, just a description. Drinks are well priced and yummy - except for the diet tonic. I'm not getting hit on - I'm am somewhat harassed. I don't mind. Now I know what this place is like, on Thursdays anyway.
